It has been awesome to hear from so many women in the northern Michigan area who are interested in portrait sessions, but have never been given the opportunity! I get inquiries daily from women tentatively testing the waters, asking for more information or curious about what a session entails. Through these exchanges, I've heard some of the same concerns over and over again, and I figured the best way to address them would be in a blog post (and I didn't know what else to write about this week!). FAQ 1: Will my photos be on the internet?
Not without your express written permission! All the photos you see on my social media or website are from clients who have given me express permission to use them for such. I have a privacy policy that I send to all my clients assuring them that I edit privately, and their photos will be seen by only my eyes.
FAQ 2: I have scars/acne/cellulite. Can you edit that out?
Generally, yes. We can do an in person consultation if the changes you want will be extensive, but my policy is to edit to my client's preference. My personal philosophy is to give you photos of you looking your best: you should still look like you, but on the most empowering day of your life.
FAQ 3: I'm older than/bigger than/different than the women on your site. Will I look silly booking a session?
Hell to the no! I have photographed women of all sizes, shapes, ages, and styles (men, too!) and I guarantee you, you're going to look amazing. You don't need to be a specific size to be empowered, sexy, beautiful, or stunning---it's a well kept secret, but it's true! Because of my strict privacy policy, not everyone allows their images to be used online, so you might not see a true representation of how many different types of people I work with via social media. With engaging posing techniques, we can make you look absolutely fabulous--not smaller, curvier, or "better"--you'll look like you and love what you see.
FAQ 4: Can I bring a friend to my session?
If having company makes you feel more confident, then go for it! However, I ask that you limit yourself to one guest, and make sure it isn't someone who makes you feel nervous or self-conscious. No minors, please.
FAQ 5: Do I have to pose nude?
Nope! You can pose dressed in as much or as little as you like. Many women find they think they're uncomfortable with nudity until mid-session, and then decide to bare everything! If you're unsure about your comfort level, we can always start with lingerie or outfits that make you feel sexy, and see where it goes. Also, keep in mind that there's a spectrum of choices: implied nudity, partial nudity, and fine art nudity are all valid options.
FAQ 6: I'd like to do a session with my significant other! Do you offer that service?
Abso-freaking-lutely! Couples boudoir sessions are becoming more and more popular, and are a fantastic way to create an experience with your special someone. It's a date idea that keeps on giving, with your customized albums or wall prints serving to remind you of the passion that keeps your relationship strong.
FAQ 7: Where do sessions take place?
I offer sessions in my studio, which has several different "sets" for a variety of images. There's plenty of natural light, lots of space, and amazing studio lighting to make your images truly magical. During appropriate weather, for clients who are interested, I also offer alternate locations for truly unique images.
FAQ 8: Do you offer payment plans?
I do! I believe boudoir sessions are a luxury, but are something every woman should experience, so I do my best to accommodate my clients with convenient and manageable payment plans. All balances must be paid off before the day of the session.
FAQ 9: How will I receive my images?
Because I believe in creating a luxury experience from start to finish, you'll view your images at an in-person reveal session 1-2 weeks after your session. There, you'll decide on your favorites and pick what products you'd like from the investment menu. I offer high end albums, folio boxes, wall art, and retro viewfinders that make awesome gifts. Digital images can also be purchased.
