Client Spotlight: Bridgette

I am so exited to start doing client spotlight blog posts! I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing, brave, inspiring, funny, badass women I've ever met, and I can't wait for you all to meet them, too!

Bridgette has had two sessions with me, one in my old studio, and one at the new. So I thought she would be great client to spotlight before Black Friday, because she's really got this process down! Bridgette was SO much fun for both of her sessions. Her first had a very rock and roll vibe, and she pulled off "aloof badass" so well that I was might have been really intimidated by her...if only she wasn't also a soulful artist with a heart of gold!

Working with Bridgette has been lovely every time, because she has such a thoughtful, and genuine nature. She weighs her words, thinks before she speaks, and she puts forth nothing but her true self when she's out in the world. Meeting someone like her once was a treat, but being able to watch her grow her family and her business has been a privilege. Everyone, meet Bridgette.

Tell us a little about yourself!

I didn't grow up in a positive, affirming family. There was a lot of "you want to do that?" and pickiness on my body. I essentially got to a point where I gave up trying for what I WANTED in my life and did what felt like the easiest road to keep my family happy. It has taken me a lot of work to get to a point to accept that MY goals are just as good as what my family expected. I am now trying to grow my hobby of sewing and hat-making into a side business, which fulfills my sense of soul so much more than my first career choice of nursing. I do actually love the job I "fell" into since it challenges my brain in new ways every day, and hey, I'm still saving lives by working at a body armor manufacturing plant, just not in the way I expected when I was younger.

My weight had been an issue since I hit puberty. I hit it young and fast, and was a young woman before the rest of my class. It was tough when I was trying to discover my confident side when girls were poking fun at my chest and butt.

Fast forward to college, I did not take care of myself because when you are taking a full class load, going through clinicals, and trying to work at the same time to stay alive, you just don't make your body a priority. It took me a few years out of college before I realized I wasn't doing myself any favors and decided to start my strengthening journey. I started to enjoy my body and what it can do. Now that I'm growing a human being it is a whole new struggle, but I have finally accepted that I'm showing off a new kind of strength.

What made you decide to book a session?

I wanted to get my husband a very unique "paper anniversary" gift for our first year anniversary. We were planning on starting a family within the next couple of years, and I wanted to do something for me to show off how much my hard work had paid off before a child came along and changed my body.

What were your thoughts or feelings leading up to your boudoir session?

I was more excited than nervous, although still a bit nervous. I had about a billion costume pieces I wanted to show off.

How did you feel after your session?

Sexy as all hell for the first session! Sexy as all hell and lovey dovey on my husband (it's a great aphrodisiac!), plus a Mother Goddess vibe after the second session, which I did with my husband.

What sort of products did you choose, and why?

Albums for each because there was just way too many to pick from to get just one print. I'm/we're too sexy to try to contain it on just one page of paper.

What advice would you give to other people who want to book a boudoir session?

Do whatever makes you comfortable. There is no rule saying you have to bare it all, so don't put that expectation on yourself. This is all about you having FUN and enjoying YOUR body.

Are there any last words of wisdom you'd like to pass on for others (self care tips, affirmations, etc)?

Dressing with intention is a great way to keep your spirits up. If I am expecting a particularly stressful day at work (or not), I'll wear a crown or another fun accessory because how can you not be happy when you have some sparkle hanging on you? Or at least take a few minutes to dash on some "fancier" makeup.

Favorite affirmation?

"I'm freaking awesome." -Me
